Dear members, fellow aviation professionals and friends
Happy New Year – 2016
As we leave SG50 and going into a new year, SIAE turned 41. We had a grand celebration of our 40th Anniversary in 2015 which set us on a new course after flying in turbulence for a few years. After a year of re-organisation in SIAE and ATTC, we are now ready to move on with new energy and confidence.
Our new direction will feature strongly in our annual Aviation Safety Competition. In line with the national effort to encourage Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), we are reaching out to the schools to introduce the aviation culture early in their career. The objective of ASC is to engage young school children in the exciting world of engineering in aviation. Practising and veteran engineers, pilots and airport management professionals will give lectures on their work with visits to hangars, workshops, manufacturing plants and airport facilities to give them the feel of the aviation working environment.
We have lined up 10 exciting sessions in our Café Aeronautique for 2016. Members and guests will enjoy an evening of food and drinks in the company of “aero people”. We will bring people in research and practicing aviation professionals to share experience in their work in a casual environment. As part of building the aviation culture, it is important for all professionals to appreciate the works of other in different aspect of aviation.
Our third flagship activity is the coming SATEC-2016. With our usual partnership with RSAF and in conjunction with Singapore Airshow, SATEC 2016 will bring you top speakers from many countries to share their research and experience with you. Come and join us on 15 Feb 2016 (Mon) at the Suntec Singapore. Members have the privilege to attend at special rates.
Beyond the public activities, we are working on projects to ensure the long term sustainability of SIAE. Focusing on our drive to develop a strong aviation culture in Singapore, we are looking at using the expertise and experience of our membership. If you have a specialist knowledge or experience which you can help in our mission, let us know. We will organize projects for you to be intellectually and economically active again. Whether you wish to play advisory, teaching or consultancy roles, we have a place for you in our consultancy and advisory projects.
I wish everyone a great 2016 and a prosperous Monkey Year!
